Sharjah 24: As part of the tenth edition of the Sharjah Calligraphy Biennial, the "Arabic Calligraphy Exhibition" was held at the Emirates Fine Arts Society.
It was opened by Abdullah Al Owais, Chairman of the Department of Culture in Sharjah, and Mohammed Ibrahim Al Qasir, Director of the Department of Cultural Affairs, in the presence of Salem Al Junaibi, Chairman of the Society, and a number of calligraphy-interested artists.
In total, there are around twenty-five pieces on display by five Arab artists from Sudan, Egypt, Syria, and Iraq.
Artists whose works cited the Quran, poetry, and other texts offered a historical overview of the Arabic calligraphy styles they adopted, revealing their hopes for the future of authentic Arabic calligraphy in the visual arts.
