Sharjah 24: The Zayed Centre for Studies and Research of the Emirates Heritage Club (EHC) held a virtual lecture on the cultural achievements of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.
Khalifa Al Tunaiji, a researcher in UAE history, and poet Mariam Al Naqbi, participated in the dialogue. The dialogue was moderated by Dr. Mini Abu Naama, a researcher in cultural history, in the presence of His Excellency Ali Abdullah Al Rumaithi, Executive Director of Studies and Media at the club, and Badr Al Amiri, Administrative Director of the Zayed Centre.
The lecture was organised within the "Reading in Emirati Publications" programme, which was launched by the centre during its 2022 cultural season to focus on Emirati publications, especially in the field of history, heritage and folk literature. In addition to hosting writers and organise lectures and symposiums to shed light on these publications and enrich the cultural scene in the UAE.
In her opening speech, Fatima Al Mansoori, Director of the Zayed Centre for Studies and Research, said that His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, established the cultural model in the UAE and the Arab world. In addition to the fact the His Highness has worked over the past fifty years to formulate a distinguished cultural presence for the UAE.
She added that the country's history will record with pride and honour what His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah accomplished, highlighting that the Emirate of Sharjah today has become an important station in the care of cultural and knowledge affairs.
Researcher Khalifa Al Tunaiji said that His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah is a distinguished cultural figure with abundant production, adding that the Emirate of Sharjah, under the leadership of His Highness, celebrated Arab culture and launched many intellectual, cultural and artistic projects.
Poet Maryam Al Naqbi noted what His Highness gave to culture, heritage and folk literature, and His Highness's great support for creativity, creators, poetry and poets, noting in particular His Highness's support for women poets.
For his part, Dr. Mini Abu Naama spoke about his book on the Ruler of Sharjah, describing it as the first critical historical book dealing with the historical works of His Highness.
