Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Institute for Heritage (SIH) held a coordination meeting for its branches in Kalba, Khorfakkan, Dibba Al Hisn, Al Dhaid, and Al Hamriyah putting the final touches on the activities of Sharjah Heritage Days, which will be hosted this year under the theme "The Heritage and the Future." The festival will commence on March 10 and run through March 28.
The meeting's objectives were to raise awareness of Sharjah Heritage Days' importance to consolidate heritage in the hearts of future generations, to establish a higher committee with subcommittees in the eastern and central regions, to encourage authorities, departments, and institutions to participate, and to coordinate the nineteenth Sharjah Heritage Days with all stakeholders, in addition to identifying venues and dates for the event's activities.
"This meeting was held in compliance with directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, in order for Sharjah Heritage Days to be hosted by all regions and cities of the Emirate, as the festival host the most important events and programmes in the Emirate of Sharjah," said Dr. Abdulaziz Al Musallam, Chairman of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage and the Higher Committee of the 19th Sharjah Heritage Days.
Sharjah Heritage Days began in 2003 and has since evolved into a worldwide cultural heritage festival held yearly by Sharjah, bringing together world heritage in the heart of Sharjah. Sharjah Heritage Days contribute to introducing the new generation to their parents' and grandparents' pasts, as well as to learning about material and cultural heritage, all of which contribute to the development of a genuine generation.
