Sharjah 24: Dr Abdulaziz Al-Musallam, President of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage (SIH), took part in the work and activities of the Arab region's regional deliberations on cultural policies, which were recently organized and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and UNESCO in preparation for the UNESCO World Conference on Cultural Policies and Sustainable Development – Mondiacult 2022.
The Sharjah Institute for Heritage's involvement was centred on boosting the creative economy via governance and infrastructure development.

Dr Abdul Aziz Al Musallam, President of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, praised Sharjah's efforts since the late 1970s, when His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, launched his cultural project, which was symbolized by his famous saying: "It is time to stop the 'concrete' revolution of civil construction in the country and replace it with a 'cultural revolution."

According to Dr Al-Musallam, the Sharjah Institute for Heritage is keen to develop work to serve the upgrading of the emirate's creative economy through a strategic plan aimed at strengthening and developing joint cooperation between the Institute and Arab and international cultural and educational institutions, as well as heritage associations.

Dr Al-Musallam emphasized, through his participation, the need of opening up to current knowledge and information, the foundation of which is the creative economy, and this is what the institution is aiming to incorporate into its future projects and initiatives.

He emphasized the importance of the Sharjah International Award for Cultural Heritage in consolidating and extending the concept of the creative economy.
