Sharjah 24: Jamal Al Tarifi, Head of Al Qasimia University, chaired the Board of Trustees meeting, on Wednesday, at the university's headquarters in Sharjah.
First, he praised His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member nd Ruler of Sharjah, for placing his trust in him by appointing him to lead the institution, which he referred to as "an honour and privilege."

Then he congratulated His Highness, the Ruler of Sharjah on the university's achievements that have made it one of the most prominent educational institutions in the country.

Before addressing the Board of Trustees, Al Tarifi expressed gratitude to His Highness for the university's support and directions, underlining that the Board of Trustees will continue to work to guarantee AQU remains a top choice for foreign students.

Al Tarifi commended the Board of Trustees, the University's Acting Chancellor, and the university's faculty and staff for their commitment to promoting the university's mission and the values upon which it was founded: moderation drawn from real Islamic faith.

Prof. Awad Al Khalaf, Acting Chancellor of Al Qasimia University and Dean of College of Sharia and Islamic Studies, then presented a report on the university's accomplishments during the previous period, including the renewal of the university's institutional licence, the renewal of academic programme accreditation, joint cooperation agreements with a number of institutions and bodies, the university's institutional governance, and the procedures being used to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic via hybrid learning.

The board also approved a number of academic advancements for faculty members and reviewed the university's rules and procedures handbook, as well as the reports of the heads of the board of trustees' permanent committees on academic and financial concerns, as well as student recruitment.
