Sharjah: The proceedings of the sixth edition of Mafraq Arabic Poetry Festival concluded, on Thursday, with a poetry evening at the Irbid Cultural Centre attended by Mohammed Hamdan Al Anazi, Afnan Al Dawaima, Youssef Al Ali, Ahmed Al Kinani, Ahmed Tanash Al Shatnawi, and moderated by the Director of Irbid Cultural Centre, the poet Aqel Al Khawaldeh.
The sixth edition of the festival was characterised by conducting activities in different cultural sites in the governorates of Jordan. The festival activities began at the Royal Cultural Centre in Amman, on the following day, a poetry evening was conducted with the participation of  Adeeb Odaibat, Islam Alqam, Warda Saeed, Khaled Sebti, Ahmed Abdelghani, and directed by Dr. Salem Al Daham. 

Many poets from Jordan, from different governorates, participated in the festival, and poems included Arabic poetry, and this edition was characterised by traditional performances and Jordanian folklore, and an exhibition of Arabic calligraphy for a number of Jordanian calligraphers.

The participants and attendees commended the pioneering role of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, for his support to the Arab cultural movement, and praised His Highness’s vision that made Sharjah the capital of Arab and Islamic culture, which qualified it for the advancement of culture, being a beacon at the Arab and global levels.

It is noteworthy that Bait Al-Sheir in Mafraq has provided real support for young poets for six years, and has opened up spaces for them to showcase their creativity in literature, poetry and different cultural magazines, through programmes and cultural activities.
