Sharjah 24: The activities of the Suhbati Programme 2021 were launched, on Sunday, by the Health Promotion Department (HPD) of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah in collaboration with Zayed University, the University of Sharjah, and the Sharjah Police Academy.
On the first day, a session titled "Responding to Emergencies and Crises" was held, which covered instruction on the basic principles of dealing with health crises as well as ways for delivering primary care in emergency situations.

The programme, the first of its kind in the UAE, will run until July 17 and aims to bring together more than 260 participants aged 17 to 23, as well as raise health and nutrition awareness among adolescents in order to encourage them to adopt healthy behaviours, qualify them to be ambassadors among their peers, and empower them to spread health and nutrition knowledge and education.

According to Iman Rashid Saif, Director of Health Promotion Department (HPD), at Sharjah's Supreme Council for Family Affairs, the programme aims at adolescents because they are the main pillars of societies and the driving force behind the production and development processes, and investing in them represents an investment in the future.

The department's goal is to graduate a group of young health educators who will be able to actively contribute to the Emirate of Sharjah's vision of being a healthy and friendly city for children and young people, as well as a disease-free environment, in accordance with the visions and directives of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs.
