Sharjah 24: The Health Promotion Department (HPD) at the Supreme Council for Family Affairs (SCFA) recently organised a webinar titled “balance your health”. The event was held in conjunction with the World Day for Safety and Health at Work.
The webinar comes as part of the HPD’s Wazen Programme, which was launched under the patronage of Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, with the aim of creating an environment that promotes the health and wellbeing of Sharjah government employees.

Moderated by Tariq Muhammad Haniyeh, Head of the Audit and Inspection Department at the Prevention and Safety Authority in the Government of Sharjah, the webinar was attended by HE Iman Rashid Saif, Director, HPD, in addition to broad participation of employees of government agencies in Sharjah and community members.

The webinar included 4 working papers presented by Fatima Al Mansoori, Professor Human Consciousness & Yogic Sciences, Rima Mahmoud Reda, Psycho Counselor, James White, founder of Proactive Breathing, and Joe. D. Thoams, Trainer Breathwork.

The meeting touched on workplace injuries and ways to prevent them, the use of narrative therapy to improve office culture, the importance of employee health in enhancing the work environment, the most famous office exercises to prevent and relieve back pain, and ways to control mind and emotions using proactive breathwork.

"World Day for Safety and Health at Work this year is focusing on how to prevent workplace injuries, which is an important part of the standards stipulated by the "Wazen" program," said Iman Rashid Saif, noting the Department, in cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO), is carrying out the program in all government institutions in Sharjah.

Saif added that the webinar aims to raise the employees' health awareness of the most important health practices, motivate them to follow healthy lifestyles at workplaces in order to stay fit and healthy, and enhance the necessary capabilities and culture to provide a healthy workplace.

Tariq Muhammad Haniyeh, in turn, highlighted the most important risks that may lead to workplace injuries. This includes electricity, machinery, and equipment, hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures, noise, radiation, biological hazards, psychological hazards, manual tasks.
Haniyeh underscored that the adherence to the highest standards of safety and health in the workplace is the basis for preserving human cadres and ensuring the enhancement of their productivity, thus continuing the economic development and improving the performance of various sectors.
