Sharjah24: The University of Sharjah and the Kuwait Ministry of Higher Education sign an MoU with the aim of strengthening cooperation and forming a strategic partnership that contribute to sustainable development. This in the presence of His Excellency Ambassador Dhiab Falah Al-Rashidi, Consul General of the State of Kuwait in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, and Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah.
Prof. Abdullah Abdul Rahman Al-Kandari, Advisor and Head of the Cultural Office at the General Consulate of the State of Kuwait in Dubai, signed the MoU with Prof. Sherif Sedky, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.
The Chancellor of the University of Sharjah welcomed the attendees and conveying the greetings of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah, and President of the University to the Kuwaiti delegation. He indicated the University of Sharjah’s keenness to always welcome and receive scholarship students from Kuwait and the provision of all services and facilities required to help them achieve success and distinction in their studies. The Chancellor praised the continuous collaboration and distinguished relations that link the University of Sharjah with representatives of the Ministry of Higher Education and the Kuwaiti Cultural Office. He added that the University of Sharjah is one of the largest universities in the United Arab Emirates and the Arab region, as it now offers a variety of academic and scientific programs for undergraduate and graduate levels required by the local and regional labor markets.
For his part, Ambassador Dhiab Falah Al-Rashidi, Consul General of Dubai, welcomed the long-standing cooperation with the University of Sharjah, praising the talents of graduates from the University in the State of Kuwait. He emphasized that the University of Sharjah, which was founded by His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, is truly a scientific and cultural beacon not only in the United Arab Emirates, but also in the Gulf countries and the Arab region as a whole. He expressed his aspiration for more cooperation with the University of Sharjah in other fields, including scientific research and exchange of visits and experiences with Kuwaiti universities.
His Excellency Prof. Abdullah Al-Kandari referred to the depth of relations between the University of Sharjah and the Kuwait Ministry of Higher Education, praising the level of the University of Sharjah and the distinction of its specializations in the different degrees offered. He conveyed the greetings of His Excellency Dr. Muhammad Al-Faris, Minister of Higher Education in the State of Kuwait, and His Excellency Dr. Subaih Al-Mukhaizeem, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education.
The terms of the MoU stipulate the proposal and implementation of a set of cultural and awareness programs for Kuwaiti students studying at the University, and an agreement to specify a number of class vacancies for students on scholarships from the State of Kuwait in the fields of medicine and oral and dental surgery. It also calls for cooperation in the field of scientific studies and applied research, support for research projects, and the organization of conferences, scientific forums, workshops and various training programs that discuss and review the latest developments and best practices in areas of common interest. It also includes exchange of scientific visits for university professors in Kuwait, as well as admission to the medical fellowship.
