The event brought together a number of women from cities across the Central Region who continued their education at literacy centres, highlighting the UAE’s efforts to combat illiteracy and promote access to education at all stages of life.
Rashid Abdullah Al Mheyan, Chairman of the Central Region Parents Council, expressed his sincere appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and to Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs (SCFA), for their valued efforts in supporting women’s education and their continued attention to women from childhood through later stages of life.
Speaking to Sharjah24, Al Mheyan said this care was reflected in the provision of comprehensive facilities and services, ranging from healthcare and education to dedicated transport that facilitates access to education and training centres.
He noted that these efforts have enabled large numbers of women to complete their education, with some also completing the memorisation of the Holy Quran, reflecting the success of the UAE’s efforts to eliminate illiteracy and make education an accessible right for all without exception.
