$100,000 prize

The award carries a total prize fund of $100,000, distributed among four winners across two themes. The first-place winner in each theme receives $30,000, while second place in each earns $20,000.

Two themes

This cycle is accepting submissions under "Linguistic and Rhetorical Studies in the Quranic Discourse", which covers grammatical, morphological, rhetorical, lexicographic and stylistic research tied to the verses of the Quran, along with readings that uncover the meanings, inimitable qualities and structural features of the Quranic discourse.

The second theme, "Modern Lexical Studies", is reserved for work examining linguistic and humanistic lexicography in the modern era – analysing its methods and shifts and proposing ways to develop it further in light of digital tools, databases and language-processing technology.

The deadline nears

Dr Amhamed Safi Al-Mustghanemi, Secretary-General of the Arabic Language Academy in Sharjah, said: 'As the nomination window nears its close, we're looking forward to receiving more research that enriches linguistic and lexicographic scholarship and adds works to the Arabic library that combine scholarly rigour with an awareness of today's shifting currents of knowledge.' Over its previous cycles, the award has earned its standing as a platform that recognises serious research efforts and highlights work that makes a genuine contribution to Arabic studies."

He added: "We hope the days remaining will give researchers and authors who have completed solid work in this cycle's two themes the chance to finish their submissions and join a scholarly journey that has, over the years, celebrated studies enriching linguistic knowledge and serving Arabic across its evolving fields."

Eligibility

Nominated work must be a printed book carrying an ISBN, with its first edition published between January 2016 and July 2026. Research published in peer-reviewed journals is not accepted. The book must not have already won a similar award, and each candidate may submit only one work in one theme. Winners from previous cycles may not re-enter until five years have passed since their win.

How to apply

Candidates need to create an account on the award's platform and upload an electronic PDF copy of the book showing the ISBN clearly, along with a written application, a CV, and a copy of their national ID card or the first pages of their passport. They must also submit three physical copies of the nominated work and follow every registration step through to the point where their file is saved and confirmed on the platform.
