Sharjah24: Sharjah Children, an affiliate of Rubu' Qarn for Creating Future Leaders and Innovators, drew 1,788 parents and children across its centres throughout the emirate for its "parents' meeting" event, as part of its ongoing efforts to build stronger ties with families and support the development of children's talents and abilities.

A platform for direct dialogue

The event gave parents a direct line to share their views and suggestions on the programmes and activities on offer, with the aim of improving services and raising the quality of the experience across Sharjah Children's centres in a way that meets families' expectations and children's needs.

Workshops and interactive activities

The day brought together a varied mix of workshops and interactive activities that gave children and their parents shared experiences to enjoy together, spanning cultural, artistic, sporting, and heritage themes. These included sessions titled "My Mum and I", "The Family Race", "Heritage of the Ancestors", "Designing Traditional Costumes", "Stories from the Heart of the Family", "Planting with My Family", and "Creative Family Fingers", among others — all designed to deepen the bond between children and their families.

Building a real partnership

Khawla Sharif Al Hawai, Director of Sharjah Children, stated that the parents' meeting embodies the Foundation's belief that families play a central role in a child's development, rather than merely supporting it from the sidelines. She added that keeping that conversation with parents open and regular means that the work done at the centres and the work done at home pull in the same direction, giving children a better chance to grow, find their strengths, and develop a clear sense of who they are.

The event is part of a longer-term commitment at Sharjah. Children are to be made genuine participants rather than occasional visitors — building an environment where talent gets spotted early, skills are properly nurtured, and children leave with more than they arrived with.
