Sharjah 24: Children across "Sharjah Children" joined Eid al-Adha celebrations this week, as the organisation rolled out its "Joy at Sharjah Children" programme across its centres in Sharjah, drawing 1,121 participants, along with parents and community guests.

The initiative, delivered under the umbrella of the Rubu’ Qarn Foundation for Creating Leaders and Innovators, combined festive entertainment with cultural and educational activities aimed at keeping children engaged during the holiday while reinforcing social values.

Eid-themed activities
Centres saw a steady turnout throughout the celebrations, with children taking part in quizzes, games, and a series of craft-based workshops. These included making Eid greeting cards, decorating envelopes, and creating themed designs such as “Eid Clouds” and festive ornaments carrying handwritten messages of celebration.

The atmosphere across the centres was lively, with children proudly displaying their work as part of the activities designed to encourage creativity and participation rather than passive entertainment.

Alongside the crafts, the programme introduced children to elements of Emirati tradition associated with Eid al-Adha. Activities included decorating a traditional incense burner, as well as making miniature baskets and heritage-style coffee cups, giving younger participants a practical introduction to cultural customs.

Organisers also incorporated short awareness sessions and competitions focused on responsible internet use and digital safety, which aimed to encourage more mindful behaviour online.

Noura Al Shamsi, Deputy Director of Sharjah Children, said the programme was designed to balance enjoyment and learning, providing children with a space to celebrate Eid while also developing their creativity and strengthening their connection to national identity and heritage.

She added that “Sharjah Children” is committed to designing programmes that strike a balance between learning and entertainment in an engaging environment, helping to instil positive values in children while strengthening their connection with their families and the wider community. She also said such initiatives play a key role in reinforcing national identity and highlighting Emirati heritage through interactive and cultural activities.

Government entities' role
The “Joy at Sharjah Children” event was organised in cooperation with several Sharjah government entities, including the Sharjah Police General Headquarters, the Sharjah Museums Authority, and the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA). The collaboration formed part of broader efforts to strengthen community partnerships and support initiatives aimed at serving children across the emirate.
