Represented by its Academic Administration, the institute discussed with the association’s delegation ways to enhance cooperation in the fields of knowledge management, documentation, and scientific research, as well as professional development and the enhancement of students’ and researchers’ skills. The discussions also focused on leveraging specialised expertise in library and information sciences to support the academic and cultural initiatives implemented by the institute.
Dr Khalid Al Shahi, Director of the Academic Administration at the institute, stated that the meeting addressed a number of proposals related to implementing joint training programmes and scientific events. These initiatives aim to increase the participation of students and researchers in knowledge-based and professional activities, enrich cultural and intellectual content, and serve the community through specialised projects that support the development of national competencies.
The meeting reflects the commitment of both the Sharjah Institute for Heritage and the Emirates Library and Information Association to expanding areas of cooperation and establishing strategic partnerships that support sustainable knowledge development. It also discuss strengthening the role of scientific research and documentation in serving heritage and culture.
On the sidelines of the visit, the delegation from the Emirates Library and Information Association toured the SIH's facilities, familiarising themselves with a number of specialised departments and units. They also were briefed on an overview of the academic and professional programmes and initiatives implemented by the institute in the fields of cultural heritage preservation and the qualification of national talents, as well as its efforts to employ modern technologies in support of education and knowledge development.
