Al Yasi added in statements to Sharjah24 that the council now includes more than 80 members who discussed this important issue, which they selected themselves. He noted that this reflects participants’ strong awareness of national issues in general and of matters of particular importance to the Emirate of Sharjah. He explained that the discussion of environmental and food security issues was inspired by the major and pioneering initiatives launched by the Emirate of Sharjah in these fields.
He noted that several additional initiatives were proposed that could significantly contribute to the future development of this sector. These ideas emerged from the interventions of 23 council members and were the result of extensive training conducted over the past two years, covering research, analysis, surveys, field studies, drafting parliamentary questions, effective debate and discussion techniques, and developing solutions to complex challenges. Al Yasi added that the outcomes of this training were clearly reflected during the day’s session in the quality of the discussions and proposals presented by the members.
