Sharjah24: The Sharjah Department of Culture has released Issue 82 of Al Hira from Sharjah magazine, dedicated to Nabati poetry and folk literature.

The issue features contributions from a distinguished group of poets from the UAE, the Gulf region and across the Arab world, presented in the sections Rivers of Wonder and Al Hira Garden. The At the Table section explores the creativity of opening verses in Nabati poetry, while Pioneers’ Ink highlights the literary journey of the late Emirati poet Zaal bin Saif Al Falahi.

The Provisions of the Years section presents selected examples of Nabati poetry inspired by the mountains of Asir in the Arabian Gulf. Meanwhile, Windows of the Self examines the work of Kuwaiti poet Khulood Al Barari, and Illuminated Treasures traces the literary career of Emirati poet Ali bin Rahma Al Shamsi.

The issue also sheds light on the Emirati poetic form of Taghrooda in the Thresholds of Beauty section, while Nabati Shores explores the experience of the Emirati poet Mohammed bin Khadem Al Ketbi.

In Orbits, the magazine examines motherhood in Nabati poetry, while Horizons highlights places immortalised in Emirati Nabati verse. The Descriptions section focuses on sunrise in Nabati and folk poetry.

The issue concludes with Publications and Insights, which features a review of Journey of Emotions, a poetry collection by Saudi poet Mahdi Al Atwi.
