Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) reaffirmed its commitment to developing Emirati engineers across key sectors, in alignment with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. This initiative focuses on enabling national talent to contribute meaningfully to the emirate’s ambitious development projects.

Emiratisation in engineering roles

Since 2021, SEWA’s Human Resources Directorate has appointed 287 Emirati engineers, now comprising 68% of the authority’s total engineering workforce. This significant step aims to build a new generation of engineers equipped with institutional knowledge and technical skills.

Strategic hiring for 2025 goals

As part of its 2025 objectives, SEWA has appointed 60 new engineers, applying a structured strategy to prepare national talent for critical positions within the authority. These engineers will be integrated into a skills matrix, enabling them to collaborate with international energy and infrastructure partners.

Contributing to future projects

The newly appointed engineers will contribute to upcoming energy, water, and gas projects. Their expertise will also support specialised areas such as water quality assurance, automation and control systems, building modelling, network resilience, energy efficiency, and operational technology

Leadership pipeline for Emirati engineers

SEWA confirmed that these initiatives are part of a broader plan to enhance the readiness of national talent and groom them for future leadership roles, ensuring their active participation in developmental projects across Sharjah’s cities.
