The sessions involved eight different entities and were conducted both in-person and virtually. The award began its programmes with a visit to Al Asala Club, affiliated with the Sharjah Social Services Department, a club dedicated to senior citizens, to highlight the award’s role in recognising the contributions of elderly volunteers and encouraging them to continue their giving. An introductory session was also held at Al Suyouh Council to promote the concept of family and community volunteerism among local residents.
On the educational front, the award targeted Al Qala’a School in Al Hamriyah and several Applied Technology Schools through both in-person and virtual sessions. These meetings aimed to instil the values of volunteerism in students and motivate them to participate in humanitarian and developmental initiatives.
The sessions also included prominent economic and cultural institutions in the emirate. An introductory meeting was held at the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry to explore ways to strengthen voluntary partnerships between the public and private sectors. Additionally, a session at Al Dhaid Cultural and Sports Club highlighted the role of sports volunteerism in serving the community.
The award also engaged the Sharjah Museums Authority and participated in the Sharjah International Narrator Festival, introducing visitors and participants to the mechanisms of participation in the award and its various categories, as well as showcasing its role in supporting volunteer initiatives.
Suad Al Shamsi, Director of the Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work, emphasised that these meetings are part of the award’s annual plan to spread the culture of volunteerism within institutions and society. They aim to raise awareness of the importance of voluntary participation as a human and social value that contributes to sustainable development and fosters a spirit of giving across all segments of society.
She noted that the meetings are designed to reach various societal groups and institutions, introducing the award’s mission and objectives in embedding volunteerism as a core value in the community, while motivating individuals and organisations to actively contribute to serving the nation and humanity.
Al Shamsi added that the award will continue to organise introductory meetings in the coming months, expanding to include more educational and community institutions. This ongoing effort seeks to reinforce the concept of social responsibility and strengthen the spirit of initiative and giving.
