Sharjah 24: The Central Region Parents Council, affiliated with the Districts Affairs Department, celebrated World Teachers’ Day by organising a ceremony titled “Thank you, Beacons of Minds” at the council’s headquarters in Al Dhaid.

The event was attended by a distinguished group of community and educational figures, parents and students, in an atmosphere filled with gratitude and appreciation for teachers and their noble mission.

Three pioneering teachers from the Central Region were honoured during the ceremony: Dr Saeed Al Jarri, Ali Musabih Al Tuniji and Khalifa Zayed Al Tuniji.

Speeches highlighting the teacher’s enduring role

The celebration, held on Wednesday evening, began with an inspiring speech that reflected the value of education and the importance of teachers in creating hope and shaping the future. The event expressed deep appreciation for the message carried by prophets, scholars and educators across generations.

His Excellency Rashid Al Mahyan, Chairman of the Central Region Parents Council, affirmed in his address that the teacher will always remain a beacon of minds and a pillar of civilisational progress. He praised their efforts in instilling values, refining talents and building students’ characters on the foundations of knowledge and learning.

He added that the celebration is a message of gratitude to every teacher who has made giving an endless mission.

Words of pride from the honoured teachers

Dr Salem Zayed Al Tuniji delivered a speech on behalf of the honoured teachers, expressing their pride in their noble mission. He affirmed that every effort made in classrooms is an investment in the nation’s future, and that education will remain an everlasting message as long as there are people who dedicate their time and energy to serve generations of the nation’s children.

“My Teacher, My Role Model”

The ceremony also featured a creative segment titled “My Teacher, My Role Model”, presented by the students of Victoria School. Through artistic performances, they expressed heartfelt appreciation towards teachers, highlighting that a teacher is not merely a conveyor of knowledge but also a role model, a source of inspiration and a maker of future generations.

Honouring outstanding educators and contributors

The ceremony’s honouring proceedings were conducted by His Excellency Rashid Al Mahyan, Chairman of the Central Region Parents Council; His Excellency Salem Mohammed bin Huwaiden, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Dhaid Cultural and Sports Club; and Mehir Al Khayyal Al Tuniji, a member of the Parents Council.

The celebration concluded with the recognition of several educational figures from the Central Region in appreciation of their educational journeys and continuous contributions. They included Dr Saeed Al Jarri, Ali Musabih Al Tuniji and Khalifa Zayed Al Tuniji.

Dr Salem Zayed Al Tuniji was also honoured for delivering the teachers’ speech, in addition to recognising the Victoria School students who participated in “My Teacher, My Role Model”, along with several media representatives and organisers.

Celebrating the nation’s builders

The event concluded with a reaffirmation that honouring teachers is, in essence, honouring the nation itself. The teacher remains the lantern of knowledge and the engineer of minds — for with education, civilisations are built, and with teachers, nations are raised. The message of loyalty and appreciation for teachers will remain an enduring one, preserved by generations and passed down from one to the next.
