Sharjah 24: The Sharjah House of Poetry hosted on Tuesday a poetry evening featuring Mohammed Al Amoush from Jordan, Abkar Kouri from Chad, and Muayyad Nujris from Iraq.

The evening was attended by poet Mohammed Abdullah Al Buraiki, the House's Director, and a group of critics, poets, and poetry lovers.

The evening was introduced by poet Rajab Al Sayed, who welcomed the attendees and thanked His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, for his patronage of the creative platforms.

Disseminating culture

Al Sayed said that since His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah unveiled the commemorative plaque on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, marking the opening of the new headquarters of the House of Poetry in the Heritage Area, the Heart of Sharjah, the House has continued its illustrious legacy in the spaces of poetic creativity, its journey of uncovering every beautiful expression expressed by poets, discovering every hidden poetic experience, and introducing their authors, within the framework of the vision and directives of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah.

Nostalgic readings

The readings were opened by Jordanian poet Mohammed Al Amoush, who read a text titled "Another Hymn to the Face of Life," expressing the poet's innermost thoughts, sorrows, and questions.

Then, poet Abkar Kouri read some of his texts, whose imagery was inspired by the picturesque nature of Africa. In his text, "Crossing to the White Memory," the poet presents a picture of nostalgia for the past and for childhood through the recollection of roses, birds, and expansive fields.

The readings were concluded by poet Muayyad Nujris, who read a text titled "Pre-Season Harvest," which revolved around the theme of the homeland, expressing feelings of fear, sadness, and tears.

Finally, poet Mohammed Al Buraiki honoured the evening's participants.
