This second leg of the championship is open to male and female shooters within the UAE aged 12 to 18. Competitions are structured to accommodate varying skill levels, offering both experienced young shooters and beginners the opportunity to compete at a stage appropriate for their proficiency in the sport.
Events will feature 10m air rifle and air pistol disciplines. Friday is dedicated to equipment and weapon inspections as well as official training. Saturday will host competitions for junior shooters, concluding with an awards ceremony, while Sunday is reserved for beginner-level competitions and their respective awards ceremony.
His Excellency Hassan Bin Hadiya Al-Shehhi, Secretary-General of the UAE Shooting Federation, emphasised that hosting an open championship within the season series allows the Federation to reach new practitioners and brings organised competition closer to shooters who are just beginning their journey in the sport.
He stated: "We want shooting to have multiple entry points, ensuring that access to competition is not limited to a single pathway." A shooter might begin their journey at a club, academy, or school; the crucial factor is finding a structured opportunity to transition from simply practicing the sport to testing their abilities in a competitive environment suited to their skill level.
He added: "The inclusion of various levels within the championship allows each shooter to start at the appropriate point. Simultaneously, it broadens the scope for identifying new talent that might not surface through traditional channels alone. The more diverse the sources of talent, the wider and more varied the selection pool becomes, enabling us to guide serious athletes toward more specialised technical pathways."
The championship’s technical program reflects this progressive approach: competitions for junior boys and girls are conducted according to the sport's official technical regulations, while a dedicated level for beginners suits their initial entry into competition. This ensures a structured experience without immediately confronting shooters with demands that exceed their current level of preparation.
In doing so, the UAE Open Championship adds a new dimension to the season’s series. Beyond providing a regular competitive schedule, it expands entry points into the sport of shooting—encompassing clubs, academies, schools, and other environments where new talent may emerge—thereby serving as a bridge between the sport's widespread practice and the gradual transition toward specialised athletic training.
