Sharjah Radio, part of the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority (SBA), is running three child and family programmes this October. They cover children's questions, paediatric health and the everyday problems of raising a family.
Ya Abati is built on questions and answers. Children put their own questions to the presenter, Sheikh Diyaa Al Suwaidan, and he answers in plain language. Several children join him in the studio, so the exchange stays conversational. The programme airs at 12:00 pm.
Immunity of My Child gives parents practical advice on protecting their children's health. Presenter Sheikha Bin Khamis hosts specialists from several medical fields. They include Dr Shaima Bu Hamer, a paediatric dentist; Dr Iman Taryam, a consultant in paediatric blood diseases and cancer; and Dr Nujood Al Zaabi, a specialist in lung and respiratory diseases. It airs at 9:45 pm.
Educational Dialogues is a cultural and educational programme about the problems parents and teachers face day to day. Each episode takes one family-related issue, looks at what causes it and discusses how to deal with it. Bin Khamis presents with Dr Alia Al Suwaidi, a consultant in family medicine. It airs at 9:30 pm.
Sharjah Radio said the three programmes reflect its aim of offering content close to family life, and give children and educators room for discussion and guidance.
