Sharjah loses to Zamalek in Club World Handball Championship

Sharjah 24: Sharjah suffered its second defeat in the Club World Handball Championship after losing to Egypt’s Zamalek 29-26 on Tuesday. The match was the first leg to determine fifth and sixth place in the 2025 Super Globe Handball World Championship, held in Egypt’s New Administrative Capital. The tournament features top handball clubs and stars from around the world.

Match recap: Close contest

The first half ended in a 14-14 draw. Although Sharjah led for much of the match by three goals, they were unable to maintain their advantage, and the first leg concluded in favor of Zamalek.

Sharjah’s previous performance

Sharjah started the tournament strong with a 35-30 victory over the American California Eagles. However, the team lost to Magdeburg 36-26, finishing second in Group A and competing for the higher rankings.

Next steps for Sharjah

To claim fifth place, Sharjah must defeat Zamalek by more than three goals in the return match scheduled for Thursday, October 2.
