Sharjah 24: The Al Dhaid Cultural and Sports Club officially launched its Summer Open Shooting Championship last night, under the generous patronage and presence of Sheikh Tariq bin Faisal Al Qasimi. The event drew a wide audience of shooting enthusiasts and featured the attendance of several prominent officials and community figures.

Upon his arrival at the club, the event patron was welcomed by Salem Mohammed bin Huwaiden Al Ketbi, Chairman of Al Dhaid Club, along with Rashid Abdullah bin Huwaiden Al Ketbi, General Secretary; Saif bin Dalwan Al Ketbi; Malek Misbah Al Ketbi; and Khalifa bin Huwaiden Al Ketbi, as well as club board members, shooting aficionados, and members of the local community.

Ceremony and tour

The ceremony opened with the UAE national anthem, followed by a welcoming speech from the club’s chairman, who expressed deep gratitude for the patron’s support. He highlighted the leadership’s interest in backing high-impact sports that meet youth interests and aspirations.

Sheikh Tariq bin Faisal Al Qasimi toured the championship grounds, inspecting the facilities and shooting range. He also witnessed the start of the competition and praised the excellent organisation and high technical standard of the participants. The "Young Shooter" event drew particular attention, reflecting a strong focus on involving children and adolescents in skill-based and hobby-driven sports.

Competition details

Running until 20 July, the championship includes a variety of competitions featuring both professional and amateur shooters from across the UAE. Participants compete in different age categories, with the event characterised by discipline, sportsmanship, and a spirit of healthy competition. The championship will conclude with a closing ceremony that includes the awarding of medals and prizes across all categories.

Promoting positive youth engagement

Salem Mohammed bin Huwaiden Al Ketbi noted that organising the Summer Open Shooting Championship aligns with the club’s strategy to promote specialised sports and cultivate beneficial hobbies across all community segments. The initiative aims to motivate youth and enhance their skills in a safe and stimulating environment.

He extended sincere thanks to Sheikh Tariq bin Faisal Al Qasimi for his generous patronage, which he described as a strong motivation to continue hosting socially impactful sporting events.

Malek Misbah Al Ketbi, club board member, added that the championship serves as an ideal platform for discovering and nurturing promising talents, especially as interest in shooting grows due to its focus on precision, mental discipline, and focus.

The championship is progressing confidently towards achieving its athletic and educational goals, reflecting Al Dhaid Club’s vision to be a leading hub for empowering youth potential across various fields.
