The visit reflects the club’s commitment to connecting participants with knowledge through direct experience, nurturing their scientific curiosity, and familiarising them with elements of the UAE’s marine environment. Sharjah Aquarium is one of the leading educational facilities in the country and the first and largest government centre dedicated to displaying marine life. It features 21 water tanks spread over two floors, simulating various marine environments found in the Arabian Gulf.
This visit is part of a series of exploratory trips organised by Al Dhaid Club during the summer programme, designed to offer rich content that blends values, knowledge, and environmental and national belonging—turning the holiday into a fully integrated learning experience.
Participants toured the various sections of the aquarium, discovering hundreds of species of fish, molluscs, and rare and tiny marine creatures, such as seahorses and jellyfish, in addition to marine plants and coral reefs. They also took part in interactive awareness sessions focusing on the importance of preserving the marine environment and maintaining ecological balance.
The trip offered a live educational experience, enriching the participants with visual and practical knowledge—particularly through the interactive displays inside glass tunnels that gave visitors the feeling of walking through the depths of the ocean, surrounded by a vibrant aquatic world.
Organisers of the visit affirmed that its goal was to enhance the awareness of young participants about the environmental diversity of the UAE and broaden their understanding of marine life. This aligns with the educational vision of the Sharjah Summer Sports Programme, overseen by the Sharjah Sports Council, which places great emphasis on awareness and well-rounded upbringing programmes that combine learning with entertainment.
