The visit aimed to strengthen the complementary relationship between the Consultative Council and sports institutions, supporting Sharjah’s ambitions for excellence across all sectors. It also contributes to nurturing a distinguished generation of players and creatives in their respective fields.
The committee’s delegation was led by Her Excellency Sheikha Ali Al Naqbi, Chair of the Committee, accompanied by Her Excellency Kulthoom Saif Al Tunaiji and Her Excellency Sheikha Khalfan Al Thunayn Al Naqbi. Also present was Huda Al Hammadi, the committee’s secretary. They were welcomed by the club’s Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, Imran Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Executive Director Mamoun Saleh, and a number of administrative and technical staff.
During the meeting, the club’s officials reviewed its longstanding contributions to the promotion of chess at both local and international levels. They emphasised that the club is considered one of the leading specialised sports institutions in the country and the region, with a rich history of achievements and titles won by its players across regional and global competitions.
The club also presented its training programmes aimed at developing young talents and its future plans to expand community involvement and nurture promising players.
Her Excellency Sheikha Al Naqbi praised the club’s exceptional level and its active role in promoting the culture of chess. She stressed the importance of specialised clubs in reinforcing Sharjah’s position as a hub for sports and cultural innovation. She also reaffirmed the Council’s dedication to supporting such entities through field visits, identifying their needs, and relaying them to relevant authorities to enhance performance and ensure sustainability.
The committee’s delegation discussed the main challenges facing the club and explored ways to support it and overcome obstacles that may hinder its progress. The discussions aimed to further empower the club to achieve future successes, both in competitive championships and in the educational and community programmes it offers.
The visit concluded with a tour of the club’s facilities, including training and competition halls. The Council’s delegation expressed their admiration for the club’s high-standard amenities and professional environment provided to its members.
