The meeting was held as part of the conclusion of the committee’s work during the third parliamentary session of the third ordinary term of the eleventh legislative chapter. It served as an important strategic milestone to review the committee’s activities and achievements, and to formulate future visions and develop plans and proposals to complete the council’s agenda efficiently and effectively during the upcoming session. The discussions sought to ensure the continued momentum of the council’s parliamentary and community contributions and to further strengthen its role in serving society and supporting sustainable development initiatives.
At the outset of the meeting, the committee expressed its deepest gratitude and appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and to his wife, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs (SCFA), for their generous patronage and unwavering support for families across the emirate. The committee noted that this support underpins its achievements and those of the council, which aim to strengthen family cohesion, promote social stability, and build a secure and united society. Members affirmed that the leadership’s directives will continue to guide the committee’s efforts to develop innovative social policies that meet families’ aspirations and enhance their quality of life. The committee also commended the contributions of the Chairperson of the Sharjah Consultative Council, council members, the various council committees, the Secretary-General, and the council’s General Secretariat for their support for the committee’s work. In addition, the committee expressed its appreciation to all entities it visited and to the organisations that cooperated with it in addressing and advancing family-related issues.
During the meeting, the committee reviewed the outcomes of its work and initiatives on monitoring and discussing key issues and pressing social challenges. Members also examined mechanisms to enhance awareness programmes that promote a positive vision and strengthen family cohesion and stability. The committee concluded by outlining its priorities and aspirations for the next phase, including the development of a package of recommendations and flexible future policies aligned with Sharjah’s sustainable development framework. These proposals are intended to support the Sharjah Consultative Council’s comprehensive agenda during its upcoming parliamentary term.
