Chaired by His Excellency Mohammed Ali Jaber Al Hammadi, the meeting examined the provisions of the draft law, focusing on ensuring a fair balance between efficient judicial service delivery and safeguarding the financial rights of litigants. Members stressed the need for careful study, as the law is intended to reflect ongoing legislative development in Sharjah and enhance accessibility to judicial services.
Al Hammadi emphasised that the draft law aligns with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, in advancing legal reforms, reinforcing the rule of law, and ensuring swift justice for all.
The committee conducted a thorough review of the draft’s articles, covering the types of judicial fees, collection mechanisms, exemptions, and relevant appeal and dispute procedures. Discussions also included financial and technical aspects, with members highlighting the importance of balancing adequate funding for judicial infrastructure with easing the burden on litigants in socially or humanely sensitive cases.
The committee agreed to finalise its report on the draft law, including proposed amendments and observations, in preparation for its submission to the full council for discussion and approval in an upcoming session. The goal is to issue comprehensive legislation that supports Sharjah’s legal development and access to justice.
