Kalba and Khorfakkan clubs win junior and cadet championships

Sharjah 24: Kalba and Khorfakkan clubs won the First Sharjah Sports Council (SSC) Athletics Championship for juniors and cadet teams. Held at Al Thiqa Club for the Disabled, the championship featured 60 players from eight clubs. The aim was to discover talent at an early stage and nurture and develop them.

17 Competitions

The championship included 17 competitions for national athletes in the sprint, jump, and throw categories. Kalba topped the junior category with six medals, followed by Sharjah in second place with four medals, and Al Hamriyah in third place with three medals. Khorfakkan topped the junior category with six medals, followed by Al Hamriyah in second place with four medals, and Mleiha in third place with two medals.

Successful launch

Mohammed Obaid Al Hussan, Director of the Sports Affairs and Development Department at the Council, expressed his happiness with the successful launch of the event, which the Council deemed necessary to organise to support the most important Olympic Games and the one with the greatest promise of excellence at the individual level.

Al Hussan emphasised that the talented players who achieved the top positions will receive special support through internal and external gatherings and camps.

The championship was supervised by Jassim Al Doukhi, Head of the Individual Games Department at the Sports Affairs and Development Department, and games experts Samir George and Al Waleed bin Mohammed Al Mashout.

Great achievement

The following are the names of the first-place winners in the two categories:

First: Junior Championship Under 18: 100m and 200m races: Ahmed Ali Al Saadi (Kalba), 400m race: Adel Fahad Al Suwaidi (Sharjah), 800m race: Khaled Hassan Al Sharafa (Kalba), 100m race for the disabled: Issa Al Balushi (Al Thiqa), long jump: Faisal Saif Al Shamsi (Al Hamriyah), triple jump: Saif Faisal Al Shamsi (Al Hamriyah), discus throw and shot put: Rashid Khalfan Al Jabri (Sharjah), javelin throw: Hamad Adnan Al Shura (Al Batayeh).

Second, Cubs Championship under 16 years: 80m run by Ali Fahad Al Suwaidi (Sharjah), 300m run by Rabie Khalaf Juma (Al Hamriyah), 1000m run by Rabie Khalaf Juma (Al Hamriyah), long jump by Abdullah Ibrahim Al Nuaimi (Khorfakkan), discus throw by Hamad Hassan Al Abdouli (Khorfakkan), javelin throw by Musabah Ali Al Qaidi (Mleiha), shot put by Hashel Abdullah Al Qaidi (Mleiha).
