Sharjah24: Sharjah Sports Club has clinched the General Karate League title (Kata and Kumite) for men for the 13th consecutive year. The final round of the championship concluded on Saturday at Sharjah Club’s Hazana hall after three rounds of intense competition.

Sharjah’s karate team dominated the league, taking first place in the junior Kumite category in the last round, which saw participation from 87 players representing seven clubs. The team confirmed its dominance from the first round, dedicated to Kata, where they claimed all available trophies in the junior, youth, and men’s categories. They continued their success in the second round of Kumite, winning first place in both the junior and youth divisions, securing the general league shield in Kata and Kumite for those categories.

In the final Kumite round, Sharjah claimed first place in both the men’s and junior divisions, earning them the overall general league shield in Kata and Kumite for men.

Leadership praises dedication and planning

Engineer Suleiman Abdulrahman Al Hajri, board member of Sharjah Sports Club and Head of Individual Sports, praised the team’s outstanding results this season, describing them as a direct outcome of the club’s strategic planning to elevate the karate team. He extended congratulations to the players and the technical and administrative staff.

Al Hajri emphasised that retaining the title was a key challenge, but the determination and fighting spirit of the players made it possible. He noted that this achievement adds to the club’s long list of accomplishments, with karate being one of the standout sports contributing key athletes to the national teams.

Support from Sharjah Sports Council highlighted

He credited the remarkable performance of the karate team to the unwavering support of the Sharjah Sports Council and the keen interest and attendance of the club’s board during events. Winning the title for the 13th time in the club’s history is, he said, a testament to the quality and dedication of the club’s individual sports division.

Focus now on Federation Cup title

Al Hajri also noted that one more championship remains this season — the prestigious UAE Karate Federation Cup — and that the team is determined to retain this title as well. He expressed optimism about the club making history by winning all domestic championships this season.

The event concluded with a prize-giving ceremony attended by Al Hajri, Mohammed Ibrahim Al Nuaimi (member of the UAE Karate Federation and head of the competition committee), and other federation officials.
