The tournament will take place across eight cities: Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Brasilia, Belo Horizonte, Porto Alegre, Salvador, Fortaleza, and Recife. These same venues hosted matches during the 2014 Men’s World Cup.
The Maracana Stadium was also the site of the 2014 Men’s World Cup final, where Germany beat Argentina 1-0 in extra time. Meanwhile, Belo Horizonte’s Mineirao Stadium witnessed Brazil’s infamous 7-1 semi-final defeat to Germany.
This 2027 edition will be the second Women’s World Cup to feature 32 teams, aligning with the format used in the Men’s World Cup from 1998 to 2022.
FIFA also noted that the next Men’s World Cup will expand to 48 teams and be hosted across 16 stadiums in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
