Piastri, driving for McLaren, secured first place in the Miami Grand Prix after 57 laps, finishing 4.6 seconds ahead of his teammate, British driver Lando Norris, who won the title last year. Mercedes driver George Russell, another Australian, finished third with a significant gap of 37.6 seconds.
This victory marks Piastri's fourth win of the season and his third consecutive triumph following rounds in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. He previously won in China and now boasts six career victories. McLaren achieved a 1-2 finish for the 51st time in its history, and for the second time this season after the race in China.
Piastri, who took the lead on lap 14 by overtaking Red Bull's Max Verstappen, commented, "I was aware enough to avoid Max in the first corner, and from then on I knew I had a good speed advantage, The car was amazing today".
