Al Hamriyah Municipality launches its summer campaign

This campaign continues the efforts of the Municipality of Al Hamriyah in raising awareness and enhancing public safety and security at various public facilities during the summer, particularly at Al Hamriyah Beach and the beach park, which see a high influx of community members, visitors, and tourists.

Awareness and safety
The annual campaign aims to raise awareness about the importance of following proper guidelines when swimming in the sea and to emphasize safety measures to prevent water-related accidents such as dry drowning and strong currents. The campaign kickoff involved 900 participants and included a range of interactive activities and workshops using eco-friendly materials, along with workshops aimed at sun protection, such as the "My Summer Hat" workshop.

Police involvement
The General Command of Sharjah Police, as the strategic partner and main supporter of the awareness campaign, provided various awareness activities, including a seminar on drowning prevention. They also deployed a security patrol at the event site to distribute flyers to beachgoers, with notable participation from the Comprehensive Al Hamriyah Police Station.

Marine safety education
Additionally, the marine rescue company "Tornado Total Landscape Marine Rescue Services" held a seminar to explain the meanings of the warning colors of the beach flag system at Al Hamriyah Beach, informing visitors about sea conditions. The seminar included activities related to the dangers of marine currents and how to avoid them, as well as how to rescue someone who is drowning in the sea or private pools, along with a presentation on first aid.

Community participation
The campaign, held over the weekend, saw broad participation from all visitors to the beach park. National staff from the Public Health Department of the municipality conducted an educational workshop providing important information about food safety in summer, food storage, and transportation methods, along with guidelines and tips for protecting food from sunlight during beach visits.

Children's activities
Aisha Sultan Mohammed, head of the City Facilities and Outdoor Advertising Department, noted that the Al Hamriyah Municipality staff, in cooperation with partners, implemented several recreational workshops for children, featuring a summer and recreational theme. These included entertainment shows, interactive games, and giveaways of cold drinks and refreshments for all participants.

Skill development for kids
Many child-specific events were organized, including motivational competitions and recreational activities aimed at developing skills and enhancing social abilities among children, encouraging creativity and innovation, and teaching them the importance of following beach safety guidelines while with their families.

Commitment to safety
Mubarak Rashid Al Shamsi, Director of Al Hamriyah Municipality, confirmed that the municipality is achieving its goals for the "Safe and Happy Summer" campaign by educating visitors about the importance of following beach safety measures and adhering to guidelines provided along the beach and park. This includes swimming in designated areas and monitoring children while at the beach, as well as complying with warning flags indicating sea conditions and following the instructions of marine rescue teams and municipal inspectors stationed along Al Hamriyah Beach.

Environmental responsibility
Al Shamsi highlighted the ongoing campaign aimed at engaging different community segments and visitors, motivating them to maintain environmental integrity and adhere to public safety procedures during visits to Al Hamriyah Beach. He emphasized the continuation of environmental and awareness efforts to reduce harmful practices and provide advice during official holidays for all targeted groups, enhancing their environmental and social responsibility.
