The event forms part of Al Hamriyah Municipality's ongoing efforts to promote a culture of institutional documentation and to raise awareness of the importance of archives among employees, thereby supporting the institutional work system and reinforcing the principles of governance, excellence, and sustainability.
The event included a presentation on the importance of archives in documenting work, decisions, projects, and initiatives. Archives are a fundamental pillar that helps preserve rights, ensure easy access to information, and support planning and decision-making processes, in line with modern best practices in document and information management. The event also highlighted the vital role of archives in preserving institutional and historical heritage and enhancing government performance by organising documents and records according to scientific methodologies that ensure the accuracy of information and its rapid retrieval when needed.
His Excellency Mubarak Rashid Al Shamsi, Director of Al Hamriyah Municipality, affirmed that the celebration of International Archives Day stems from the municipality's belief in the importance of document and record management as a key pillar of institutional excellence and knowledge sustainability.
Al Shamsi stated, "Archives represent the living memory of institutions, preserving the history of achievements, decisions, and initiatives. They provide a reliable reference that supports business continuity and enhances institutional efficiency. Therefore, Al Hamriyah Municipality is committed to implementing best practices in archiving and document management to ensure the preservation of information and its easy access and use."
Al Shamsi added that the rapid pace of digital transformation makes it increasingly important to develop archiving and document management systems to keep pace with the requirements of modern government work and to enhance the quality of services and the efficiency of administrative processes.
