Sharjah24: To promote Emirati culture among children, Sharjah Children, an organisation affiliated with the Rubu’ Qarn for Creating Future Leaders and Innovators, organised a falconry workshop in collaboration with the Sharjah Falconers Club at Al-Qarayen Child Center. The aim was to introduce them to the rich heritage of falconry.
Immersive experience in Emirati heritage
The workshop was held in an atmosphere that reflected the authenticity of Emirati heritage, providing a unique interactive experience that helped deepen children's memories of their cultural roots and enhance their awareness of their community's values.

Learning about falconry
During the workshop, children learned about the history of falconry and its significance in the UAE, as well as its vital role in the lives of their ancestors. The session included explanations of training methods and care for falcons, highlighting key species found in the country, such as the fast and agile Peregrine Falcon, the noble Gyrfalcon, and the resilient Falcon.

Essential falconry tools
The workshop also showcased essential tools used by falconers, including the hood for calming the falcon, the leather glove for hand protection, the transmitter used during training, and the lure that encourages the falcon to hunt, along with the bird's rest box and the game bag for carrying hunting supplies.

Continuing the Emirati heritage initiative
This workshop is part of a series of activities organised by the Sharjah Children’s Centers under the Emirati Home Initiative, aimed at introducing children to authentic Emirati heritage and instilling human values such as generosity, tolerance, cooperation, and teamwork.
