During a visit to one of the women’s basketball competitions, Dr. Al Falasi met with players and encouraged them to continue performing at their best. He praised their spirit and commitment and emphasised the importance of such events in nurturing the next generation of athletes.
His Excellency highlighted that the tournament reflects the UAE’s vision to build an integrated university sports system that enhances the country’s position as a regional and global sports hub. He also stressed the role of universities in identifying and refining athletic talent.
The University Games feature 1,822 male and female athletes from 28 universities, competing in football, basketball, and volleyball. The tournament is organized by the Abu Dhabi Entertainment Company (ADEC), in cooperation with the Ministry of Sports, the UAE School and University Sports Federation, and with support from Solution+ and MBME Group.
The qualifiers began in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah, with intense competition in the preliminary rounds, quarterfinals, and semifinals. The final matches will be held on April 19 and 20, followed by an award ceremony to honor the winners and celebrate sports excellence.
