The Documents House highlights Khorfakkan through photography

Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Documents House organised the second edition of its photographic walk initiative, titled "Here is History." This event brought together around 50 professional and amateur photographers for a field visit to the old villages of Shis and Najd Al-Maqsar in Khorfakkan. The aim was to capture the beauty and charm of the city and document it through their lenses.

Preserving Sharjah’s history

Salma Khamis Al-Abdouli, Deputy Head of the Documentation Department, emphasised the importance of preserving the history of the emirate through such initiatives. She explained that the initiative focused on introducing participants to significant historical areas in Khorfakkan, particularly the villages of Wadi Shis and Najd Al-Maqsar.

Raising awareness through art and documentation

Maha Salem Al Muhairi, Director of the Government Communication Department at the National Archives, highlighted the value of the photographic walk in preserving historical landmarks. She explained how it combines art with documentation, raising awareness about the importance of Khorfakkan’s history and ensuring it is passed on to future generations.

Photographers' contribution to Khorfakkan's legacy

The participating photographers expressed their delight in capturing the beauty and history of Khorfakkan. Their work not only documented the city’s landmarks but also helped preserve its visual memory, showcasing the cultural heritage of the emirate to both local and global audiences.
