Khorfakkan Club's Summer Programme Ignites Youth Potential

Sharjah 24: The Khorfakkan Club for the Disabled saw a remarkable start to its summer programme this year, with a large turnout of club members, along with their peers, to participate in the rich and diverse summer activities organised under the umbrella of the Sharjah Sports Council (SSC), under the slogan "Our Holiday is Different."

Activities will continue from June 30 to July 31, offering a unique summer experience that celebrates social integration and inclusion.

Al Naqbi: Our programmes are inspired by the vision of the Ruler of Sharjah to care for the youth

For his part, His Excellency Abdullah Saleh Al Naqbi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Khorfakkan Club for the Disabled, emphasised that organising this summer activity embodies the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, calling for the importance of investing the leisure time of children and youth in ways that benefit them, protect them from negative influences, and contribute to building their personalities and developing their capabilities.

Al Naqbi pointed out that the club is keen to annually offer summer programmes with a clear educational and developmental dimension, contributing to refining the personalities of participants mentally, physically, and socially, and working to integrate people with disabilities into their natural environment through joint activities with their peers, emphasising the values of solidarity, participation, and equality.

Alai: A Group of Trainers and a Comprehensive Plan to Develop Talents

For his part, Louay Saeed Alai, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Khorfakkan Club for the Disabled, explained that this summer programme is part of the club's annual plan to develop the skills of members, especially the youth. He emphasised that the club's management has worked to attract a select group of qualified trainers to provide quality programs that enhance educational and sporting aspects and instill authentic values and customs in the participants, in line with the aspirations of society.

Alai added that the club has paid special attention to cultural aspects and scientific trips, in addition to recreational games and practical workshops, ensuring a balance between benefit and enjoyment and creating a summer environment rich in experiences and learning.

In a related context, Sulaiman Rashid, Chairman of the Club's Support Services Committee, stated that logistical preparations for the summer activity were completed at the highest level. The facilities, training and entertainment halls were fully equipped, and adequate means of transportation were provided to ensure safe and comfortable arrival for participants of all ages. He pointed out that the support and supervision teams have prepared the club's internal environment according to the highest health and safety standards, with supervisors and trainers distributed to ensure smooth implementation of activities and provide the necessary care for all participants throughout the programme.

Safe and stimulating where children discover their abilities and express themselves

In the same context, Abdullah Al Tunaiji, Chairman of the Cultural and Community Committee, indicated that the committee has worked to prepare a variety of activities that combine fun and benefit. He explained that this year's programme focuses on strengthening national identity and developing personal skills by integrating people of determination with their peers in cultural activities, interactive competitions, and innovative workshops. He added that the club’s goal is a safe and stimulating environment that gives children the opportunity to discover their abilities and express themselves freely and confidently.

The programme includes a comprehensive package of cultural, sporting, religious, social, and educational activities, in addition to workshops, interactive competitions, and educational and recreational trips, all of which aim to develop skills, discover talents, and strengthen bonds among participants.

The programme was divided into five weeks with motivational themes: "I am Creative" in the first week, "This is Sharjah" in the second week, "I am the Community" in the third week, "I am an Athlete" in the fourth week, and "I am the Future" in the final week. Each week embodies a developmental, educational, and recreational dimension geared toward the participating age group.
