Sharjah 24: His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, called on the people of Dibba Al Hisn to live in the new buildings in Al Hisn Island Residential Complex, which provide all the health and aesthetic specifications, stressing that His Highness has a special love for the city of Dibba Al Hisn, and that its people are kind and friendly, and do not cause any problems.

His Highness also explained that the streets of the Emirate of Sharjah are named after religious and historical figures who enjoy good reputations; His Highness urged people to learn the stories of these names.

Dibba Al Hisn people

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, said in a telephone interview on the “Direct Line” programme broadcast on Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, with Mohammed Hassan Khalaf, Director General of Sharjah Broadcasting Authority: “The city of Dibba Al Hisn is dear to us. The people of this city are kind and generous, and we do not receive any complaints from any of them. There is harmony among the city’s tribes. When I called the city of Dibba Al Hisn “the virtuous city”, it was because I did not receive any complaints from them, and there are no disputes between them in the courts. Thanks be to God, this situation has begun to prevail in the cities of Khorfakkan and Kalba, where we no longer receive any problems from them, because people are preoccupied with their love for their country. We always hope that people will be comfortable in their lives, and that they will all agree on what is good.”

New buildings

His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah added: “The issue of developing the old town from within is one of the things that I give great attention to. We take specific areas for the residents of the area to be developed to live in. We cannot bring construction and development companies into the area to be developed while its residents are present there, in order to protect its people, women and children. It is worth noting that the new buildings that we have built for the residents in Al Hisn Island residential complex are characterised by fresh air, a beautiful view and a clean place. When someone resides in these buildings, he sees the sea from one side and the mountain range from the other side. The view is wonderful. These buildings are also characterised by cleanliness and no possibility of sewage leakage into the house. The place is very upscale and has all the health specifications. There are also parking spaces and a private entrance for each apartment. We hope that the residents will accept to live in these buildings.”

Sharjah Streets

Regarding the policy of naming the streets of the Emirate of Sharjah, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi said: “I started writing “The Shining Names in the Streets of Sharjah”, which are the names found on the streets between the houses in the Emirate of Sharjah, including the names of the martyrs of the Battle of Uhud, and they are many; I wrote them all, and named the streets after them, and among them was the name of the martyred companion “Dhimam bin Tha’laba Al Sa’di”. Then a citizen came to me whose house was located in front of the sign on which the name of the street was written, to blame me and ask why we put the name “Tha’laba” in front of his house? So I asked him, “Don’t you know who the person of this name is?” He answered “No”, so I was sad about that, and I regretted that I did not publish the book explaining the stories of the individuals of these great names, may God have mercy on them, and I answered him and said to him “Dhimam bin Tha’laba Al Sa’di”; he is a companion from Bani Saad bin Bakr, and he is one of the first Arabs who came to the Prophet, May God Bless Him and Grant Him Peace, and he is one of the best narrators of hadith.”

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, concluded by saying: “We say to the people of the Emirate of Sharjah, you are in a country known for its faith and good conduct, so you must learn and become educated in religion, its beautiful stories and its great and noble personalities. The least you should know is the names of your streets, as well as your heritage and values. I have carefully chosen the names of Sharjah streets and thoroughly reviewed them. I have read hundreds of books and learned the story of each name of the religious and historical figures. I have excluded historical names that were associated with a dispute or strife, as you will not find any of these names on the streets of Sharjah. We call on people to learn and become educated in their religion, and we wish everyone success.”
