The programmes feature a diverse range of content, covering psychological, social, health, cultural, sports, and recreational aspects. They focus on developing the orphans' skills and boosting their self-confidence, while also addressing the psychological and social challenges they may face. The activities were carried out through specialised workshops, training courses, field visits, volunteer activities, handicraft training, and constructive discussion sessions.
In this context, Mona bin Hadda Al Suwaidi, Director General of the foundation, emphasised that during the spring break, they managed to offer an innovative model for supporting and caring for orphans and their guardians. "We worked to provide an inspiring environment that helps them develop their skills and talents, as well as enhance their mental and social health, and foster their creativity through a variety of innovative activities. These programmes aim to provide the right opportunities for them to make productive use of their free time, benefiting both them and their families. A range of carefully designed programmes were offered to boost self-confidence, build social character, enrich their cultural experiences, and support their sports hobbies, while also providing opportunities to explore new places, interact with their environment, and participate in various events."
Al Suwaidi also confirmed that the foundation is always striving to innovate initiatives that meet the needs of orphans, improve their quality of life, and contribute to sustainable development. It aims to activate inspiring programmes that combine effective care and empower orphans in diverse ways. These programmes reflect the foundation's vision, drawn from the directives of the Emirate of Sharjah, to promote the empowerment of all community groups, fostering their integration and active participation in society. As the spring programmes come to an end, the foundation reaffirms its commitment to continue supporting orphans and developing their capabilities in line with its vision and community objectives.
The foundation launched its pioneering youth project, "Sanad Al-Bayt," which benefited 62 young men and women and 27 guardians, through 12 workshops aimed at enhancing leadership skills among youth. The project seeks to build an inspiring generation capable of leading their families and communities toward success. "Sanad Al-Bayt" is a comprehensive leadership project focused on meeting the needs of orphans and their families by enhancing their psychological, social, and academic abilities, helping them transition from reliance on others to contributing and actively participating in their families. The project aims to prepare balanced and creative youth, ready to face life’s challenges and support their families and communities with love and responsibility, offering various social and cultural programmes.
The foundation also involved its members in a variety of cultural programmes in collaboration with the Sharjah Arts Foundation, where they participated in fun and beneficial art workshops. The young women took part in a printing 101 programme at Sajaya Sharjah, where they showcased their creativity by designing unique art pieces using monoprinting and engraving techniques. Additionally, some participated in a science and sustainability workshop to explore innovative ideas, while others learned chess strategies at the Sharjah Chess Club to enhance their strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
As for sports and physical activities, the foundation organised exciting adventures and useful activities. Thirty young people took part in events combining challenge, passion, and enjoying nature. The activities included weekly hiking trips in the Hatta and Masfoot areas in collaboration with the ATC team to organize sports events, inspiring the participants and boosting their self-confidence and determination.
Seventeen members of the foundation joined self-defence lessons, training separately and together in taekwondo, judo, and jiu-jitsu. Additionally, eleven young people embarked on a fun journey into the world of horseback riding, learning the basics of riding and horse care, which helped them develop focus, calmness, balance, self-confidence, and patience.
The foundation implemented a series of psychological programmes to support orphans and their mothers, benefiting 33 guardians and 25 children. The goal was to strengthen their ability to cope with the changes in their lives after losing their father. Among these programmes was "Takhatta (overcome)," which aims to help orphans overcome the trauma of loss and reduce the negative effects of losing their father. Another programme, "Support Groups," was specifically designed for mothers to provide them with psychological and social support.
This programme includes discussion sessions dedicated to guardians facing challenges after the loss of a partner and dealing with the pressures of the new changes in their lives. The "Support Groups" programme aims to empower mothers to face the psychological and social difficulties linked to loss, offering emotional support and fostering a sense of belonging. The sessions cover a variety of topics, such as understanding reactions to trauma, managing anger and grief, coping strategies for stress, using life experiences in parenting, and addressing teenage issues, along with other important family matters.
Additionally, a workshop titled "Understanding Teen Psychology" was organised for mothers in the Eastern Region in collaboration with the psychological department of Khorfakkan Hospital. The workshop focused on the secrets of adolescence and provided key communication tools to help build bridges of trust with children through understanding and dialogue.
The spring programmes also included several health-related activities. The foundation organised a workshop on "Skincare" for the orphaned girls, in collaboration with Dr. Sawsan Al Mulla, a dermatologist and cosmetologist at Al Sawsan Medical Center. Twenty-five girls benefited from this workshop, which provided educational information on proper skincare methods, along with free individual consultations for each participant. The aim was to raise awareness among the girls about the importance of skincare as part of general health and provide them with knowledge on how to handle common skin issues using scientifically sound methods. The girls were also given the opportunity to receive personalised advice based on a comprehensive assessment of their skin conditions during the consultations.
The spring programme also included a medical initiative in collaboration with the University of Sharjah’s mobile dental clinic, which offered free dental checkups to orphans and their mothers affiliated with the foundation. Thirty individuals in Sharjah and the Eastern Region benefited from this initiative. This programme is part of the foundation's efforts to improve the health quality of its beneficiaries and raise awareness about the importance of oral health.
The event included comprehensive dental exams conducted by specialised doctors and dental students. Initial diagnoses and personalised consultations were offered, along with suitable treatments for each case. The programme also focused on educating participants about the importance of oral hygiene and its role in preventing dental and gum-related diseases. More complex cases were referred to the University of Sharjah Dental Hospital for further treatment and to open medical files.
In addition, the foundation collaborated with Al Jaber Optics Center to offer eye exams, benefiting 51 guardians and orphans in Sharjah, the central, and Eastern regions. This reflects the foundation's commitment to achieving sustainable development goals, including providing quality healthcare.
The Health Empowerment Programme is one of the sustainable initiatives that the foundation focuses on, always striving to offer effective services in collaboration with medical sectors to support the health of its members and provide them with the necessary care. There has been a noted urgent need among some orphans and mothers for eye care and medical supplies. Therefore, this year, the foundation renewed its collaboration with Al Jaber Optics to provide necessary eye exams and medical consultations for each patient. This initiative undoubtedly helps alleviate financial burdens for the guardians and provides them with health support in cooperation with the relevant sectors.
The Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation is always working to launch innovative initiatives aimed at improving the lives of orphans, enabling them to integrate into society, and developing their potential.
