Sharjah24: In a new achievement reflecting its commitment to government excellence and comprehensive sustainability, Sharjah Department of Town Planning and Survey (SDTPS) has obtained two certifications: the International Standard for Sustainable Procurement ISO 20400:2017 and the Sustainable Finance Standard ISO 32210:2022. This positions the department among the first governmental entities to achieve this distinction in Sharjah.

Commitment to Sustainability and Innovation

This accomplishment aligns with the Planning and Survey Department's ongoing efforts to integrate innovation and sustainability into all its operations, reinforcing its strategic vision for sustainable development. It marks a crucial step in strengthening partnerships with local and international entities, facilitating the exchange of expertise and the application of global best practices in sustainable procurement and financing.

Year-Long Efforts and Strategic Implementation

Engineer Hamad Jumaa Al Shamsi, Executive Council Member and Head of the Planning and Survey Department, highlighted that this achievement is the culmination of a year-long effort focused on adopting new strategies and policies to enhance sustainability across all departmental sectors. He emphasised that obtaining these certifications showcases the department's commitment to innovation and efficiency while considering environmental and social impacts in its activities.

Enhancing Institutional Credibility and Collaboration

Amani Al Mohyan, Director of Financial Affairs, confirmed that this achievement strengthens the department's proactive application of high sustainability standards in procurement and finance. It enhances trust among partners and the local community regarding the department's ability to innovate and provide real sustainable value. Furthermore, it positions the Planning and Survey Department as a leading institution in sustainable planning, opening new avenues for cooperation in environmental and financial development.

The certification in Sustainable Procurement (ISO 20400) promotes practices that consider environmental, social, and economic impacts throughout the lifecycle of products and services. Meanwhile, the Sustainable Finance Standard (ISO 32210:2022) integrates environmental, social, and governance (ESG) considerations into financial decision-making, supporting the department's financing of sustainable infrastructure projects aligned with national and international sustainability goals.
