Sharjah Volunteer Centre organises events at Desert Police Park

Sharjah 24: Thirty-two volunteers, including first responders and organisers from the Sharjah Volunteer Centre, a division of the Sharjah Social Services Department, took part in the fifth annual Desert Police Park event for 2024.

Organised by the Sharjah Police General Command, the event is being held at Al-Kahf area in Al Batayeh from December 14 to January 5, 2025, under the theme "Together... Time is More Beautiful." The park offers various educational programmes and activities for children and their families throughout the event period.

Volunteers' responsibilities

According to Hessa Al Hammadi, Director of Community Cohesion, the volunteers' responsibilities include providing organisational and supervisory support at the park, as well as offering first aid for any emergencies. This volunteer opportunity, presented by the Sharjah Police General Command, falls under the framework of national service and aims to enhance community preparedness for emergencies, promote the principle of response and community relief, and address crises and community emergencies.

First responder licences

Given the park's high popularity among families and its completely free activities, the volunteer opportunity was specifically allocated to volunteers with first responder licences. This strategic decision ensures adequate support for the large number of visitors expected at the event.
