The department presented over the past few days a variety of awareness activities that aimed to enhance the culture of safety and security among children and their families, amidst great turnout and interaction from the public.
The Child Safety Department's participation in the festival included organising interactive workshops aimed at educating visitors and enhancing their awareness using interactive and innovative methods, including the "First Aid" workshop presented by Khalifa Al Balushi - First Aid Trainer, Sharjah Police General Command, which addressed the basic principles of first aid, and how to act calmly and wisely in the event of accidents or injuries, in addition to training participating children and families on how to deal with simple cases in a practical and effective manner.
With a focus on psychological and educational aspects, Dr. Bana Bouzboun, Mental Health Officer at Kanf Centre, affiliated with the Child Safety Department, presented a workshop entitled "My Child is Stubborn", during which she discussed the issue of stubbornness in children and its causes, highlighting positive parenting methods that help protect children from adopting stubborn behaviours in this regard.
In celebration of the "World Arabic Language Day", the Child Safety Department organised an interactive reading session that included reading two of its stories; They are “Masoud the Hero” and “Morning Race”, as the two stories dealt with topics related to safety and security in vehicles and homes.
The session also provided the children with the opportunity to write letters to their friends in classical Arabic, with the aim of emphasising the importance of the Arabic language and enhancing their understanding of the awareness messages contained in the stories.
On the final day of the festival, the Child Safety Department presented a workshop titled "Golden Rules of Cycling", where children enjoyed a fun and useful competition, which included testing their application of safety rules while riding. The workshop included distributing awareness leaflets to the public about safety rules while riding bicycles, in addition to a comprehensive guide to educate domestic workers about safety procedures in several languages.
Commenting on the participation, Her Excellency Hanadi Al Yafei, Director General of the Child Safety Department, said: “Our participation in the 13th Dawahi Festival embodies our commitment to our community role and responsibility towards promoting a culture of safety and security among children and families. These events are an important strategic platform for direct communication with community members, as they provide an interactive environment that combines entertainment and education, ensuring that our awareness messages are delivered in an effective and influential manner.
Investing in these festivals contributes to building a more aware community, and enhances the culture of protecting children and ensuring their safety at all levels. We will remain committed to providing quality initiatives that contribute to achieving our vision of protecting children and finding innovative solutions to address challenges that may affect their safety and quality of life.”
