Alia Al Zaabi, Director of the Social Assistance Department, stated that this programme is one of the strategic initiatives launched by the department three years ago. It is organised twice a year, with each edition featuring six different activities. She explained that the main goal of the programme is to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities by creating an inclusive recreational environment that enhances social well-being and supports a dignified life for them and all beneficiaries of social security.
Al Zaabi also noted that the current edition of the programme included a wide range of special events, including recreational, professional, and educational activities that benefited 68 children. The department also provided transportation for participants to ensure easy access to the events. The activities ranged from field visits to educational and cultural sites such as the Sharjah Museums, the Holy Quran Academy, and the House of Wisdom, to training workshops at the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority and the Sharjah Charity International.
The programme also featured interactive sessions titled "Connect," aimed at strengthening communication between children and senior citizens from the Al-Asalah Clubs, in addition to sporting activities at the Al-Thiqah Club for the Disabled and visits to shopping centres. The programme concluded with the distribution of gifts to all participants, reflecting the department's commitment to providing a holistic experience that promotes happiness and social well-being for people with disabilities and their families.
