The campaign was launched on Saturday evening in order to reduce the wrong environmental practices of some visitors to these areas, and to educate and guide them on the importance of maintaining cleanliness and the environment during official holidays and vacations, and to enhance their environmental and societal responsibility.
Ammar Ali Al Muhairi, Director of the Legal Affairs Department at the Municipality, pointed out that the Municipal Control and Inspection Department organized the awareness campaign, through visits to the wilderness sites by the municipality inspectors, and the presentation of an electronic brochure to the visitors of the wilderness areas in Al Hamriyah, which can be downloaded by scanning the phone code, and includes a package of educational information, most notably the dangers of lighting fires and grilling in green spaces, the harms of throwing food waste and grilling in places not designated, how to extinguish burning barbecue charcoal safely, and the environmental damage related to this important topic, in addition to distorting the civilized appearance, and the spread of bad odors and insects.
Al Muhairi pointed out that the campaign had successfully achieved its goals, during which informational panels were displayed, environmentally friendly gifts were distributed to the campaign participants, in addition to providing a photography frame for children accompanying their families to enjoy the winter atmosphere.
Mubarak Rashid Al Shamsi, Director of Al Hamriyah Municipality, said that the environmental awareness campaign came within the framework of enhancing environmental awareness indicators among visitors and visitors to the targeted wilderness areas. The campaign seeks to reach the largest possible number of the public, noting that the municipality is keen to prevent negative impacts related to the environment, public health, sustainability and distorting the aesthetic appearance in the Al Hamriyah area.
