Held in several Sharjah mosques, the course aimed to qualify new imams and muezzins and raise their efficiency as part of the department’s efforts to develop religious cadres.
100 imams and muezzins participated in the course, and several preachers and muftis from the department lectured, aiming to hone the skills of mosque workers in several Islamic teachings.
The course covered several important topics, including developing public speaking and delivery skills, and best practices for managing mosques and serving worshippers. The course also focused on contemporary topics of interest to society, including issues in the jurisprudence of fasting, prayer, purification, and the sciences of the Holy Qur’an.
Abdullah Khalifa Yarouf Al Sebousi, Chairman of the Sharjah Islamic Affairs, said that department seeks to achieve the aspirations and visions of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, in spreading religious awareness in society and protecting it from foreign and destructive ideas, stressing the continuation of efforts to advance the workers in mosques in the emirate.
He pointed out that these courses are part of a series of training programs that the department continues to organise periodically to improve the quality of religious and social services provided to the community and enhance the emirate’s pioneering role in spreading moderate Islamic values.
