Sharjah 24: The Khorfakkan Club for the Disabled hosted an event on Tuesday by the Sharjah Sports Council (SCC) to honor the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, which falls on December 3 every year.
Abdullah Saleh Al Naqbi, chairman of the board of directors of Khorfakkan Club for the Disabled, emphasised that the activities, conducted in partnership with Al Thiqa Club for the Disabled, were designed to bring joy and happiness to the members of both clubs.
In a statement to Sharjah 24, Al Naqbi highlighted that the event saw the participation of Dr. Khalid Omar Al Midfa, Chairman of Al Thiqa Club for the Disabled; Loay Saeed Al Alai, Vice Chairman of Khorfakkan Club for the Disabled; as well as officials from the Sharjah Sports Council and various other clubs.
He highlighted that the celebration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities signifies acknowledgement of their perseverance and accomplishments, both on a local and global scale, providing inspiration in resilience and determination.
The event featured various activities and sports, including basketball, volleyball, badminton, and boccia. The programme also celebrated the UAE’s 53rd Union Day, with commemorative gifts distributed to participants.
