Sharjah24: On Sunday, December 1, Sheikh Saeed bin Saqr bin Sultan Al Qasimi, the Deputy Head of the Ruler’s Office in Khorfakkan, along with Sheikh Haitham bin Saqr bin Sultan Al Qasimi, the Deputy Head of the Ruler’s Office in Kalba, had the honor of crowning the winners of the fourth edition of the Kalba Half Marathon. This event took place at the Kalba Waterfront as part of the celebrations for the 53rd Union Day.
The marathon, organized by the Sharjah Sports Council, saw remarkable participation, with 605 male and female contestants from a variety of nationalities taking part.

Among the attendees were Rashid Saeed Al Kindi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kalba Sports and Cultural Club; Dr. Yasser Omar Al Doukhi, Director of the Community and Sports Events Department at the Sharjah Sports Council; Abdul Rahman Al Darmaki, Secretary General of Kalba Club; and Youssef Al Hosani, Executive of Events at the Sports and Community Events Department.

In the Half Marathon (21.1 km) for male citizens, the top three finishers were Mubarak Hassan in first place, followed by Suhail Al Balushi and Saeed Mohammed. For female citizens, the winners were Ruqayya Mohammed, Noura Al Khalaf, and Khadija Al Naqbi, in that order. In the open men's category for the same distance, Anwar Al Qouz took first place, followed by Danji Tesfo and Jimshwa Tolosa. For women in the open category, Ruqayya Al Muqeem secured first place, with Wafaa Zarwal in second and Helen Currie in third.

In the 10 km race for male citizens, Salem Abdullah claimed first place, with Ahmed Ali and Salem Musabah following in second and third, respectively. For female citizens, Shamsa Al Qasimi finished first, followed by Tahrir Al Naqbi and Mouza Saif. In the men's open category, Delay took the top spot, with Hamid Abdullah and Oussi rounding out the top three.

In the 5 km race for male citizens, Mohammed Ali took first place, with Salem Jamal and Mohammed Rashid in second and third. For female citizens, Amani Salem finished first, followed by Hasina Juma and Sabiha Mohammed. In the open category, Mohammed Riyad secured first place, followed by Samuel David and Asoulal Abdul Qader. The top three women in the open category were Olga Shatskinkh, Ankita Sharma, and Beatrice Zita.

Another 5 km race for male citizens saw Abdullah Nawaf take first place, followed by Salem Mohammed and Khalifa Hashim. For female citizens, Aya Mohammed came in first, with Mira Wahab and an open category featuring Abdullah Juma, Shihab Ibrahim, and Ahmed Qanbar leading the way. The top three women in this open category were Saja Ahmed, Genevieve Roman, and Mahavarshini Natarajan.

Dr. Yasser Al Dokhi expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Sheikh Saeed bin Saqr and Sheikh Haitham bin Saqr for their presence at the event, honoring the winners, and enhancing the activities organized by the Sports Council. He shared his delight in the event's success, noting it brought joy to athletes on a day of great significance. The event also allowed participants to explore Kalba's notable tourist attractions, including the Clock Tower, Kingfisher Lodge, University of Kalba, Kalba Corniche, Jubail Market, and Kalba Mangrove Center. Dr. Al Dokhi extended his appreciation to all supporting and sponsoring entities that contributed to the organization of the marathon, congratulating the winners and praising every participant for their efforts.
