Sharjah: The Arab Cultural Club in Sharjah hosted a poetry evening titled "Higher and higher" to mark the 53rd Eid Al Etihad. The event brought together poets from across the Arab world, united in their admiration for the UAE and gratitude for the opportunities it has provided to Arab intellectuals.
Participating poets included Dr. Abdul Razzaq Al-Darbasa, Dr. Akram Qanbas, Hiba Al-Faqih, Shams Al-Din Bokloh, Dr. Ahmed Al-Aqili, Abu Bakr Al-Junaid, Muhammad Najib Qaddoura, Rafiq Al-Radhi, and Youssef Al-Ghadban, with media professional and poet Mohammed Abdullah Suleiman serving as the moderator.
The evening was filled with joy and pride as the poets paid tribute to the founders of the UAE, particularly the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who laid the foundation for the nation’s continued growth and prosperity.
The poets celebrated the UAE’s remarkable achievements in building a modern, advanced state on strong economic foundations, praising Sheikh Zayed’s legacy of love, peace, and generosity throughout the Arab world. They also honoured the union’s values of peace, unity, and creative construction, highlighting the UAE’s role in supporting Arab intellectuals and providing them with platforms to thrive.
Additionally, the poets recognised the efforts of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, in nurturing Arab intellectuals through various festivals, forums, exhibitions, and publications, ensuring a space for creativity and cultural exchange.
