SRTA marks 53rd Eid Al Etihad with special events

Sharjah 24 - WAM: The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) hosted a celebration at its headquarters on Sunday to mark the 53rd Eid Al Etihad, honoring the nation's achievements with a series of events featuring various participants.
The event was attended by Abdul Aziz Al Jarwan, Director of Transport Affairs, Engineer Sulaiman Al Hajri, Director of Roads Affairs, along with several department directors, strategic partners, and guests.

Abdul Aziz Al Jarwan highlighted that Eid Al Etihad celebration reflects pride in the nation's journey, beginning with the founding father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the other founders. He emphasised that the wise leadership continues to follow their path to ensure the UAE's leadership and a better future for generations to come. Al Jarwan also noted that the event symbolises the spirit of partnership and strategic collaboration essential for achieving common goals and fostering excellence and leadership.

The event featured students from the University of Sharjah’s College of Engineering presenting projects on roads and sustainability, encouraging their involvement in the Roads and Transport Authority’s initiatives. It also included cultural and artistic activities, with standout performances by Emirates National School students and an interactive competition that allowed attendees to participate creatively. Additionally, the celebration emphasised the Year of Sustainability as a key milestone in fostering collective responsibility for building a more prosperous and sustainable future.

During the ceremony, winners promoting sustainability were honoured. The "Roads Equipped with Smart Panels to Generate Energy" project, led by the Design and Studies Department, took first place. Second place went to the Traffic Engineering Department for the "Tompex Asphalt" project, while the "Innovative Technologies for Sustainability of Roads in the Future" project, from the Strategic Planning and Institutional Excellence Department, earned third place.
